
Whitney Pierce Whitney Pierce graduated Cum Laude from the University of St. Thomas with a degree in Classical Guitar Performance where she received both music and academic scholarships and was an Aquinas Honors Scholar.
While attending, she toured the Midwest with the University of St. Thomas Guitar Ensemble and recorded an album. Her instructors included such names as Anthony Titus, Chris Kachian, Joan Griffith and flamenco guitarist Michael Hauser. She continued her studies as a Masters Candidate at the University of Minnesota with Jeffrey Van. She was selected to perform at Master's classes conducted by Sharon Isbin, Lily Afshar, Clare Callahan, and Renato Butturi.
Since moving to the Seattle area in 2003, she has been active as a freelance performer playing for weddings, restaurants, and special events. She performs as a soloist, and works with violinist Jana Boersema as part of the Cedarsounds Duo.
She has 15 years experience as a guitar instructor, teaching all ages in both Suzuki and traditional styles. Check www.whitneypierce.com for more information.
